Fantasmic - Mickey's Nightmare by Skylanth Fantasmic - Mickey's Nightmare by Skylanth
This is just one of those photos that I've been so lucky to take when I'm in the right place at the right time.

Disneyland, as you might have guessed, and watching Fantasmic! from the extreme left hand side of the viewing area. I'd just walked off the Haunted Mansion ride and there was Mickey Mouse, fighting off the fearsome dragon Malificent.

Once again, the evil powers were banished from Mickey's dream. Phooey, they never win. Better luck tomorrow night, Disney baddies!

Why is it called "Fantasmic", anyway? Fantastic + Mickey?

Beautiful shot of them.. I love this show to death, and I love this dragon. Do you by any chance know if she is still IN the show? They featured her in this summer event that sorta didn't go as planned.. Once they got her fixed, did they remove her as planned? Or is she there forever now?

Oh yeah, the new dragon is operational, or at least it was last I was there (Christmas). They experienced some problems with it that first summer, but that was a couple years ago and it's been fine ever since. Thanks for your comment!

Wow! Nice shot! It almost looks like a painting. :wow: When I was at the one in Florida, my camera wouldn't pick up anything but firework smoke. :depressed: Lucky~

I kinda always thought it had something to do with the term "orgasmic" but your idea makes more sense...

This is a really impressive shot! I love this show, but I've never seen it from this angle.

I think "Fantasmic" is a portmanteau of "fantastic" and "phantasm" or something along those lines. The definition is "word Disney made up for branding purposes."

Considering that the show started in 1992 and they just got the new dragon in 2009... changes do not happen swiftly at the Disney parks.

Watch from way over by the Haunted Mansion, by the little shack that sells clam chowder. That's where I got this shot.

I've heard that Fantasmic overall is a better show at Disneyland, but then that might just be hometown pride talking. When I was at Disney World, Fantasmic was not showing, so I'm afraid I can't verify it. I've got to say that I would appreciate the fact that the WDW show has bleachers to sit on.

Disneyland's Fantasmic is WWWWAAAAAYYY better than Walt Disney World's. They could work on the Maleficent in WDW.

my cousin works at DL and part of it is fantasmic. I got to go early one day and saw the dragon testing. Its so hilarious. its a inflatable with a IMMENSE blower. and you can only hear it if the park is dead silent. And the dragon itself is HUGE. my cousin told me you can be taller than 5 ft 8 to be mickey at that scene. the dragons big but not too big. NICE ANGLE THOUGH

If you look on the right hand column of this page, you'll see the Camera Data section that has the shutter speed, aperture, etc. that was associated with the file. Not that I can take much credit for that, I just used the automatic setting on my camera and turned the flash off.

Oh, just a little point-and-shoot. Canon PowerShot SD12000 IS. It was more a matter of being in the right place at the right time, with something steady to put the camera on, and a little gentle massage with Photoshop to improve the contrast.

They changed the draggon!! It used to be very poor quality, (just a dragon head on a stick covered with tinsle), but HOLY SHIT HAVE THEY UPGRADED!!! :D Me gusta mucho.

It used to be a cherry picker crane! I liked it, but this one is way better. Sadly, it's currently down for repairs and Malificent just stays her sorceress self.

Yeah, I saw that on youtube. I think that's a pretty good substitute, because Maleficent IS the best Disney Villainess in the history of the world (in my opinion), but it's still not as impressive as a 50-foot dragon!

Indeed, I think Maleficent is one of the greatest villains (if not THE greatest). And all because she didn't get to come to a party.
